COOKING WITH CAST IRON!! EVERYTHING YA EVER WANTED TO KNOW...SEASONING/CARING FOR CAST IRON COOKWARE

What happens here

Place the greased pans upside down in the preheated oven (set between 200-300 degrees Fahrenheit or 93-149 degrees Celsius) for 20-40 minutes. The low heat allows the oil to slowly soak into the porous cast iron, forming a durable, non-stick seasoning layer. After baking, remove the pans and use a clean paper towel to wipe off any excess oil, ensuring only a thin, absorbed layer remains.

Goal: Polymerize the oil onto the cast iron surface to create seasoning.
