COOKING WITH CAST IRON!! EVERYTHING YA EVER WANTED TO KNOW...SEASONING/CARING FOR CAST IRON COOKWARE
What happens here
After rinsing, immediately dry the pan completely with a paper towel, ensuring both the inside and outside surfaces are free of moisture. This prevents 'flash rust'. Next, pour a small amount of olive oil (or other suitable cooking oil) into the pan. Use another paper towel to rub the oil over all surfaces of the pan, including the handle and underside, creating a thin, even coat. This re-seasons the pan after cleaning.
Goal: Prevent rust and maintain seasoning on the clean pan.
