Cast Iron Cooking! A Stoney Ridge Original! Bacon Cheeseburger Squash Sliders!

What happens here

First, take the bacon that has been slightly frozen to make it easier to cut. Using kitchen shears, cut the bacon into thirds. Place the bacon pieces into a Stargazer cast iron pan and season with black pepper. Begin cooking the bacon, ensuring it cooks down to render out the grease, which will be used for cooking the squash and beef. While the bacon cooks, trim the ends off the yellow squash. Slice the squash into rounds that are approximately 0.5 to 0.75 inches thick. These thick slices will serve as the 'buns' for the sliders. Season the squash slices with a little salt and pepper.

Goal: This step involves cutting bacon into thirds and cooking it in a cast iron pan, then slicing the squash into thick rounds to act as burger buns.

started what we'll do here is we'll lay our bacon out and i'm gonna take a pair of kitchen shears the bacon's been in the freezer for just a little bit and i'm gonna cut it into thirds we won't need all this bacon so we'll take the center cut right here and we'll go ahead and put this in the pan and get it sizzling so we've got our stargazer cast iron right here all i'm gonna do is just take my bacon just kind of spread it out in the pan a little bit we want this to cook down and the grease the bacon grease is what we're going to use to cook our squash and also to cook our beef i also like to put black pepper on my bacon put that in there and go ahead and get it cooking on a medium to low heat so we'll have cheese this is sharp cheddar cheese and this is all organic ground beef right here it's not right off the farm but pretty soon we'll have our own beef right here off the farm and the seasonings we're going to use is just black pepper we'll be using a little bit of onion powder right here we'll be using a little bit of lowery seasoned salt and a little bit of salt just plain old iodized salt we're going to go ahead get our knife out we're going to start cutting our squash up so we want to cut the ends off we'll cut the end off right here we'll rotate her around cut the end off right here this will go to the chickens and we'll start cutting our squash and we want to cut it about a half inch to three quarters of an inch thick okay this is a little bit larger piece of squash than we would typically want to cook because the seeds will kind of get a little hard and that's why we save these for slider so i've got a couple pieces of squash here we'll have some squash to nibble on those are your little appetizer niblets right there and all i do is season these with salt and pepper just a little bit of salt a little bit of pepper and the squash here is going to be a substitute for a bun so we won't need a bun we don't need a hamburger bun this is going to be our bun and it's going to be on the bottom one thing to remember is your squash is going to cook the fastest so we want to go ahead and stack our squash up on this plate right here and have it ready we're going to go ahead and make our sliders and the way i make my slider burgers is i just take a little pinch about half the size of what a normal burger would be typically i'd probably get three or four burgers out of this one pound right here we'll probably get six sliders out of this it ain't rocket science…
