(6,375 characters)the new bulls here hey there folks this is josh stoneyridge farmer welcome back to another beautiful day here on the stoney ridge farm my step dad's backing up here and we're getting ready to unload the bull the big boy and he doesn't have a name so you guys get to name him i don't know what we're gonna name him i hope he doesn't run over something out here in the yard i got a bunch of stuff out here but we just went up and picked the bull up my stepdad lives about 15 20 minutes away i've got work to do here hold on let me open some gates bridge [Music] yeah that's good so anyway we got the bull so he's in here he's a big old boy big pretty bull got a great demeanor very calm very nice and a bit smaller bull in other words he's not a big old 2000 pound bull he's probably somewhere in a neighborhood of 1800 pounds which will be a little easier on our young heifers so without further ado let's release the bull and see what happens we're gonna have some babies [Music] hey go big boy he's a big old bull ain't he [Music] i think goliath is a good name for him what do you guys think all right guys a little curious about the reaction of the cows what this is going to be all about everybody's got to get acquainted all these cows already have a pecking order so we'll see number three cow that's butthead she is the queen of the cows here yeah he's a big boy a big old pretty boy so cows just like chickens and just like people have a bit of a pecking order so they've got to get their pecking order established cody is a little bit of a young bull that was born last september and he's out here with this bull so there'll be a little dominance establishment going on here we'll see he might be ready to breed right away man so what we're doing here shooting for uh our calves to be born sometime in the may march april may is when we really want them to be born during the spring flush so it's the second week of july right now and uh therefore we'll have babies right when the grass really starts to flush the spring flush this year it was a little bit early we had our calves a little bit early so we were putting the bull in just a little bit late this bull is borrowed by my stepdad and we're actually doing a little swapping because he wanted little jack so bye bye little jack but hello bull and hello baby cavs [Music] oh [Music] looks like somebody's already getting acquainted here he's settling in pretty good no major issues very very nice bull guys let me know what you think about that bull very very nice bull oh you girls got to make me some babies so here's a down-low on raisin cows on this piece of property right here so we've got 29 cows right now cows i'm saying this is bovine animals okay some of these are young heifers which are cows that have not been bred and some of them are proven cows that have produced offspring for two years so far so what we're going to do is we're going to put the bull in here and he's going to breed our young heifers and our cows and this is a cow calf operation so what we'll do is we'll raise our calves up to about 400 500 almost 600 pounds and we'll take them to the market and sell them and or we'll beef them and we'll sell beef right off the farm so that's what's up so he's got a big responsibility in breeding all these cows but i think he'll do a great job it's going to be pretty awesome we'll keep you guys updated on the channel we'll probably come up here and check on him one more time just before we end this video so that's what's up putting the bull in awesome progress now guys if you didn't catch a video yesterday there'll be a link down at the end of this video where we ran the cows through our working equipment uh me and my stepdad barry ran the cows through this tartar farming ranch she sheeted sweep system and squeeze shoot cattle master series six awesome awesome awesome we gotta get busy we gotta load up little jack so barry's backing up right now before we even get all backed up here i wanna tell you guys he's been a lot of the inspiration behind what i've been doing here on the farm so let's get him back up to this trailer all right what do you think oh i tell you what let me get just a little bit closer okay i mean i don't think he would try to stick a head through there so here lies the challenge to get the donkeys in through the working equipment and run them right through the chute into the trailer [Music] just one would be nice [Music] we can let mama out through the side door mama donkey is staying baby donkey is going so we got mama donkey out now time for baby donkey we'll just open this up and hopefully it'll run right hey mama's back mama donkey is not happy we're taking away baby but he's a year old plus so he's he's good to go good to win he's not nursing anymore and there's a danger in there that he would breed his mom back and we definitely don't want that on the farm so he went on in the trailer pretty good pretty happy with that sometimes you got to move pretty fast where'd you get that hat tony ridge it's nice when a plan comes together the plan came together pretty good this morning yeah it did yeah well guys we'll keep you updated on the bull and whether we're getting bred or not if we get any breeding shots later on i'll uh i'll post them but that's probably frowned upon in most circles guys thanks a lot for watching uh barry gets to take his little jack donkey back and he already named him jose right yeah yeah jose so it'll be a good time guys thanks a lot please pound the like button just wanted to update you on what's going on on the farm uh cattle handling equipment did an awesome job right here our whole setup worked like a charm ran the cows through ear tagged everybody everybody's good to go we did not get the ban calves the other day we have to order a bigger bander because i've waited a little bit long but there's a school of thought in banning your calves do you abandon them at birth and then do you give them a testosterone supplement that's not really what we're about so we're trying to let them grow a little bit and their testicles are about that big and the bander that i have is for goats and it will not work so coming soon to a bander near you thanks a lot guys hope you enjoyed the little video we got the bull in and we're going to have some babies soon see you next time a big old pretty boy
