What happens here
This video is titled 'Step-by-step guides to installing effective drip irrigation systems within raised beds for optimal water management', however, the content actually demonstrates the application of 'Pond Champs Aqua Blue Lake & Pond Dye' for farm pond maintenance. It focuses on how to use pond dye to improve water clarity, prevent algae growth, and create a healthier ecosystem for fish and livestock, rather than on irrigation setup for raised beds.

(10,226 characters)hey there folks this is josh stoneyridge farmer welcome back to another beautiful day here on the stoney ridge farm we've got our three-quarter acre pond here behind us that's closest to the house and right over this little hump we've got our two acre pond and today we're going to be talking about pond care pond maintenance ecosystems in your pond and pond dye okay i never would have thought i'd be doing a video about this but this has really significantly improved the quality of my pond so if you've got a pond on your farm a small pond a koi pond in your front yard whatever you might have this may be the solution to changing the ecosystem in your pond to not grow algae and to grow fish and to be more beautiful guys come along as we learn a little bit together about using pond dye in your pond to improve the ecosystem and to beautify your property [Music] oh right guys welcome to the stoney ridge farm channel if this is your first time here please jump in pound that like button i'd love to have you back subscribe to the channel got all sorts of fun stuff we're building a first generation farm here in the foothills of the blue ridge mountains and part of that is maintaining keeping up stocking and taking care of the ponds on the farm so these ponds are used for irrigation these ponds are used for watering the cows these ponds are used for fishing and recreation and general beauty here on the farm so we've got an ecosystem in each pond this pond has catfish in it channel cat the other pond has bass bluegill some grass carp and some catfish in it also and the upper pond which we'll visit last we're going to visit all three ponds today it has catfish in it too and the catfish are really really growing and really thriving because i've used this stuff okay so this is called pondchamps aqua blue now you guys are probably all driven by ponds before and seen some crazy weird atomic blue green color this is not that okay this makes your pond look kind of like ocean water and it clears up your pond and it helps establish a better ecosystem and it helps to kill algae so we're going to get a good close-up look at some nasty algae that's in this pond i have not treated this pond in about a year and a half and i have treated both of the other ponds and you're going to see a huge difference in the clarity of the water and the quality of the fish when we get up to the upper pond so what this is this is the least expensive die and again i have not been paid by this company this is something that i use you can buy it there'll be a link down the video description below it's called ponchamps aqua blue now for a pond this size basically what we're pouring in is about a one gallon container which costs around 20 to 26 bucks per acre of water okay so this is about three quarters of an acre we're going to put three quarters of a bottle of dye in here so i'm going to show you the difference in this pond that has not been treated in the other pond that's right over the hill that has been treated you guys are going to see a crazy difference it really really works and again this stuff is colors beautifies enhances the appearance of your lake or pond 100 safe for livestock or fish it's okay it's good for you it doesn't harm anything in the ecosystem it actually benefits so let's go check out the other pond and we'll put some of this in so we're gonna put the pawn dye in the pond right here be careful guys this stuff will get all over you and you'll have smurf feet so all we're going to do we are at upwind i guess so the wind is going to carry this throughout the pond right here you don't want to do it right by your standpipe if you can help that because you don't want it to just seep right out the standpipe so we'll put a little bit in over here and then we'll put a little bit in on the other side and all you do is basically open it up i've got it open and we squeeze some out in here it's gonna look weird at first that's it i didn't get any blue on me but i would say you might want to go ahead and wear some safety glasses if you're one of those safety sam kind of guys and long pants that you don't care about because you can get this stuff all over you and you look like national lampoons so what we're going to do you can see how it's distributing itself out into the pond right now we're going to go over on the other side and we'll pour a little bit more in on the other side and we'll let this kind of ooze out through the pond and we'll come back and check it later on today you guys are going to be really impressed with what it does to this ugly brown water look at it it looks weird right now but it's going to look awesome all right again safe for aquatic plants safe for livestock safe for you to drink it's okay so we'll put a little bit more right in here we'll save about a quarter of this gallon ah i got smurfed oh it got me i knew it was gonna get me it's hard to shoot a video doing this stuff so that will distribute itself throughout the pond we'll get the drone up in the air and let you see what it looks like before and what it looks like after [Music] all right guys you can really see the difference in the aqua blue right here it just turns the water a darker deeper blue okay so this also helps if you have herons coming in and eating your fish so a lot of times we'll get what we call cranes or herrings and they'll come in and they'll eat up all the baby fish right here on the edge of the pond so this also reflects back at them so they can't see the darker the dye the more reflection you get and the more fish you'll save so if you have a koi pond or something like that then you might want to go with a little bit darker dye they make a dye all the way to a black color i wouldn't suggest putting that in there now you could put this dye in to help control algae and you can put this dye in to help control lily so we had lilies way in the back right here and that is a huge problem with a lot of farm ponds they get a layer of slime then they get a layer of lilies and what it is is just a poor ecosystem now we did instill grass carpet here i think we have about 50 grass carp they're sterile carp that don't reproduce but they eat grass in other words they'll help munch all the grass in here and again helping to build a wonderful ecosystem we do leave some grasses right here for habitat there's some cattails over here on the other side we like to leave quite a bit of good fish habitat in here so that we end up with a great pond with great habitat but you can see just how clear this water is i i can't say enough about the pond diet really has helped improve this ecosystem i'll try and work in a picture of this before we did anything to it and you guys will be amazed at what a green slime nasty mess this was and now what it's become [Music] so the cows are down here hanging out at the water trough and you can see that it helps actually with the algae in the water tanks also so guys it's it's serving so many purposes you can see how clear it is in that water tank and again this is totally safe for livestock and humans and fish and any plants that might be nearby so look at that look how clear that is you won't see water tanks in the middle of the summer that clear without using that good pond dye it really really helps with the ecosystem and cuts down on the algae [Music] all right we're going to ride up to our upper pond now and check it out you guys are going to love these catfish look at how blue that is guys this is unbelievably blue it's aqua blue it looks it looks a little overdone i think i might have put just a little too much in here but wait till you see the fish come up to the top of the water this water is super super clear now so in each one of these ponds that have catfish i've got one of these big rubbermaid brute containers and i have fish feed i'll chuck some fish feed out there and we'll get to see the catfish well guys i hope you learned a little bit about pond dye today a little bit about ecosystems in your pond if you've got farm ponds and you've got problems like a skim coating of slime on it try some pond dye it may correct the problem what you're trying to do is establish an ecosystem not poor chemicals in your pond but pouring a dye a color in your pond a color that's safe for wildlife safe for your fish safe for your plants safe for your livestock and safe for you so we wouldn't put it in the pond if it wasn't 100 safe i'll post a link down the video description if you guys want to try this out on your property it takes about a year or so for your property to recover in other words for your pond to recover if you've got a nasty slimy coat of slime on there don't expect to pour one bottle in it and magic to happen okay also you want to pour this dye in at the top end of your pond in other words if you've got a stand pipe down here you want to put it in at the top end of your pond or on a windy day you want to put it where the wind will blow it out across the pond it will actually carry the dye out through the pond i hope you guys enjoyed seeing that one pond transform so the pond that's closest to the house about three quarter acres was muddy as could be and now it's blue and pretty pretty awesome guys thanks a lot pound that like button subscribe the channel i hope you enjoyed this information just a little bit of what i've learned maintaining the ponds here on the farm all right thanks a lot see you next time [Music] using pond dye it's hard to say pawn dye hyundai panda panda this is hyundai not like banzai but pandai use pandai in your pan your pandai does your pawn die when you use pandai no it makes it better how do you say pawn dive without it sounding stupid all right guys so let me guess ponds on the property since we've bought the property these are our expensive pond down down airplanes six harley-davidson's just flew over need to bring the attention to the airplane here hold on airplane on the farm boy you can see that pretty good when you're buying your rural property be sure you buy it close to an airport that does touch and goes all day long with a flying meow wow try it just try a little bit of damp pond damn i got some more fan
