Building a SHED ROOF over a DECK - Part 2!!
What happens here
Begin by installing the main support beams for the pergola roof. The video shows the use of large lag screws to fasten these beams directly to the house's roof structure. These beams are supported by adjustable 'SkyLifts' posts which penetrate the existing roof shingles and underlayment. Ensure the saddles of the SkyLifts are routed slightly to accommodate the triple 2x12 beams, making a snug fit. Temporarily secure these beams, making sure they run parallel to each other. Waterproof the roof penetrations around the SkyLifts using boot flashing and Tyvek HomeWrap beneath the shingles.
Goal: Secure the primary wooden beams onto the existing roof structure using heavy-duty lag screws, ensuring they are properly aligned and supported by specialized 'SkyLifts' posts.
