Address Existing Roof Penetrations

Building a SHED ROOF over a DECK - Part 2!!
What happens here
Identify any existing roof penetrations (e.g., kitchen sink drain vents, range hood vents, bathroom vents) from the original house roof that need to pass through the new pergola roof. For galvanized pipes, use a 'Fernco' coupling to connect the old galvanized pipe to new PVC pipe, extending it upwards through the newly framed roof. This ensures compatibility between different pipe materials and provides a secure, sealed connection. Ensure all connections are watertight and prepared for subsequent flashing. Remove any damaged or water-soaked wood or insulation around old penetrations, as shown in the video, to prevent future moisture problems.
Goal: Extend existing vent pipes through the new roof framing using appropriate adapters and materials, ensuring a waterproof seal with flashing.
