Building a SHED ROOF over a DECK - Part 2!!

What happens here

Carefully remove any existing shingles from the adjacent house roof where the pergola roof will meet. Clean the exposed plywood sheathing thoroughly, removing debris and ensuring a smooth surface. Install a synthetic roofing underlayment (e.g., Grayhawk Synthetic Underlayment) over the plywood sheathing, securing it with cap nails. Then, apply the EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) rubber membrane. This is ideal for low-pitch roofs, offering excellent waterproofing. The membrane is typically adhered to the underlayment using specialized adhesive and then rolled down to ensure full contact and eliminate air bubbles. Overlap seams by at least 6 inches and use seam tape for a watertight seal. Secure the membrane edges with termination bar or other specified fasteners.

Goal: Remove old shingles from the existing roof, clean the surface, install new underlayment, and apply a specialized EPDM rubber membrane for a waterproof, low-pitch roof.
