3 Ways to Build Floating Shelves
What happens here
To install the intermediate floating shelf, first attach a 1x1 or 2x2 piece of wood (actual size 1.5x1.5 inches) horizontally to the wall, ensuring it is level and screwed into wall studs for support. This piece will act as the hidden support bracket. Then, simply slide the hollow, box-like shelf assembly over this support piece. Use a drill and screws to secure the top of the shelf to the wooden support from above, making sure the screws go into the support and not just the drywall.
Goal: Mount the intermediate floating shelf onto the wall.
