When it's time to mow, there are several key considerations. Always mow only when the lawn is dry to prevent grass clippings from clumping, getting messy, and clogging your mower (a Kobalt 40V Max Brushless mower is shown). The type of grass you have will determine the optimal cutting height: cool-season grasses should be left taller, while warm-season grasses are typically cut shorter. A general rule of thumb is to only remove a maximum of one-third of the grass blade length at a time. Keep your mower blades sharp for a clean cut, which also helps the grass be more disease-resistant. For cool-season grasses, mow less frequently during the hotter months. Lastly, alter your mowing pattern with each cut (e.g., criss-cross) so the grass doesn't lean in just one direction, giving your yard a professional, park-like appearance.
