Allow the soldered pipe to cool. You can let it air cool or, as shown, carefully use water to cool it down more quickly. Once cool to the touch, use a damp rag to wipe down the pipe and fittings, removing any leftover flux residue which can be corrosive over time. The pipe is now ready for the new spout.
