Before permanent installation, each cut pre-finished retro tread is dry-fitted to ensure a snug and accurate fit against the installed riser and skirt boards. Once the fit is confirmed, the tread is removed, and a generous serpentine bead of PL Premium construction adhesive is applied to its underside. The tread is then carefully placed back into its position, ensuring perfect alignment. A rubber mallet is used to gently tap the tread into place, promoting good contact with the adhesive and securing a tight fit. Finally, the corners of the tread are reinforced and secured with 2-inch finish nails using a Porter Cable finish nail gun. This installation process is repeated for all remaining treads until the entire staircase is completed.
