Step 8 · Install Roofing Felt and Drip Edge

Install metal drip edge along the eaves (bottom edges) and rake edges (sloped sides) of the roof. Overlap the drip edges correctly, with the eave drip edge installed first under the sheathing, and the rake drip edge installed over the sheathing. Then, roll out roofing felt (tar paper or synthetic underlayment) horizontally across the roof sheathing, starting at the eaves. Overlap each course by at least 4-6 inches and secure it with staples or cap nails. Ensure the felt is taut and free of wrinkles.
