Step 9 · Install Shingles or Roofing Material

Starting at the bottom edge of the roof (eaves), install the first course of shingles, ensuring they overhang the drip edge slightly. Subsequent courses should be staggered and overlapped according to the manufacturer's instructions, typically with a specific exposure and offset. Use roofing nails to secure each shingle. Work your way up to the ridge, cutting shingles as needed for edges and around any vents. Finish with ridge cap shingles.
