What happens here

Locate the front axle drain plug at the bottom of the front axle assembly. Unscrew the drain plug to allow the old front axle fluid to drain into a suitable collection pan. As seen in the video, the drained fluid may contain some break-in metal sludge on the magnetic tip of the drain plug, which is normal for a first service. After draining, reinsert and tighten the drain plug. Then, locate the front axle filler plug, which is typically hand-tight. Unscrew it and use a pump or funnel to fill the front axle with new front axle fluid. The fill plug often has a dipstick attached to check the fluid level.

Goal: Replace the front axle fluid.
