What happens here
This DIY project demonstrates how to effectively manage weeds in large areas like driveways and pastures using a NorthStar 100-gallon spray rig towed by an ATV. The process covers setting up the sprayer, understanding its features, connecting it to power, and operating both the boom and a handheld spray wand for comprehensive weed control, utilizing a non-glyphosate weed killer.

(6,868 characters)guys before we start this video big shout out to northern tool and equipment if you like high quality tools check out northern tool and equipment they gave us a smoking deal on this spray rig and i can't wait to put it to work for you happy tool tuesday hey there folks this is josh stoney ridge farmer welcome back to another beautiful tool tuesdays here on the stoney ridge farm it's hot it's summertime and it's weed season so the driveway in case you didn't know if you want something to grow just plant it in your driveway it'll grow no problem rocks hold moisture moisture makes plants grow and plants are growing in the driveway and in our parking areas and we don't need that so today what we're going to do is take the ultimate spray rig this is a north star 100 gallon spray rig we're going to show you guys how it works we're going to take it we've got it hooked to our atv with our wild hair loader system on there and we're just going to have a little bit of fun getting the weeds under control here on the driveway now i know what you guys are thinking i'm not spraying glyphosate i'll post a link down below to the product that i'm using for you guys to check it out if you want to it's a non-glyphosate weed killer it's safe for playgrounds it's awesome stuff so let's get busy without further ado we're going to walk around and show you guys this awesome sprayer all right i ain't afraid of work i ain't afraid to play i ain't afraid to get the job done and do it my own damn way i ain't afraid of lie times like this if you mess with my freedom i'll tell you just what you can kiss you're probably thinking man how in the world am i going to get that big old thing in my garage to park it or in my shop or in my shed well this thing folds up into a nice neat little package right here and again it's a hundred gallon tank it is awesome it's up to 60 psi at seven gallons per minute this thing will put out some spray i'll tell you that you have a dial adjuster on there and you can adjust the psi to slow it down or speed it up now we're going to fold out the wings i call them the wings on this thing it's very very simple they're all held together with a pin system and a little twist knob it takes about two minutes to unfold this thing into its full width we are not going to use the full width going down the driveway we're just going to use partial width and when we get to the big part of the driveway right here we may go ahead and open it all the way up and right around the big part of the driveway this thing is huge man if you're using it for spray for like weed killer for broadleaf or something like that in your pastures this is a great solution for that guy that has five to ten acres or something like that and doesn't want to spend that huge amount of money to get the big old rig to pull behind your tractor so let's unfold her out and show you how it works all you do is simply pull a pin right here you lift up out it comes you drop the pin in it's spring loaded and it just falls into place twist the knob right here give her a couple twists let it all the way out and twist it back this thing is made of good high quality materials and they're shut off valves for each individual section right here pretty cool so again we're going to lean this pull the pin lift her up and out drop our pin back into place it locks into place and then we'll fold out our other arm all right we're going to take our 30 foot tape and we're going to go ahead out here and measure it yeah a full 14 feet now that means it could probably spray about a 16 foot swath because each one of the spray nozzles continues to spray out to the side just a little bit it's a spray width of about that wide say about two and a half to three feet so 14 foot boom on there and it folds up into a pretty small little package here right around 36 inches so 100 gallon tank right here this is your pump you got a regulator on there you have a filter and each one of these sprayers has an individual filter in it so if it gets clogged up you can unclog it this cap right here is tethered which is very nice you just unscrew it and you can mix in whatever chemicals that you need to mix be it fertilizer be it weed killer whatever it is if you just want to keep the dust down on your gravel driveway this thing is a beast and we could probably use it to water the cows so the way this works is there is a 12 volt plug right here and this is hooked to the battery so this battery is for the wild hair loader system right here but it's absolutely in the perfect position to go ahead and hook up for our spray rig so you hook up to the positive and negative terminals i've gone a little bit above and beyond and zip tied everything into place so it'll be super easy right there's the on off switch right there once it builds up pressure it shuts off so once it hits the pressure that you've set it to on the regulator it'll cut off now you also get a spray wind this is the spray one i set this up this does not come like this but i set it up i put a little piece of metal right there so that i could use the spray one the spray one works really good for getting those spots that you can't get this entire rig up into so in between buildings up next to buildings really really close you don't want to spray any kind of weed killer directly on a building because it's inherently acidic in most cases so you want to try and not spray it on equipment and buildings but that spray wand i think has about i'm going to say about a 20 something foot spray reach on it so i can spray out about 20 feet something like that and the hose is about 20 feet so i can pull up to something if i want to spray weeds on the edge of a pasture or something like that i can just soak them down and it'll put out some spray so let's fire up the atv and get on down the driveway with this thing have some [Music] so [Music] so [Music] hmm [Music] all right man that was kind of fun man i enjoyed that guys that's it for today's tool tuesday super happy super cool spray rig did an awesome job you can see man it just does a lot of coverage really really well now don't do this on a really windy day on your property or you run the risk of whatever you're spraying getting out off of the driveway and into places that you don't want to be so you want to make sure you do this on a warm day when the wind is right so thanks a lot guys i appreciate you joining me today on stoney ridge farm tool tuesdays there'll be a link down the video description for you guys for the north star spray rig right there 100 gallon spray rig that thing kicks butt thanks a lot we'll see you next time on tool tuesday my favorite day of the week [Music] time for the show baby it's time for the show shout the show hear me roar guys before we guys guys before we go i can't do it one more time jimmy one more time
