There was nothing we could do for Little Frankie the goat… Thanks for your prayers

I'll give some folks some time to get in here hey guys just giving some folks a little bit of time to get in here overnight last night a little Frankie the goat we give a few more seconds for folks to get in here and then we'll we'll talk about him we'll talk about what happened I'll kind of tell you this story here so yesterday my wife went up to check the goats and feed the goats and when she got up there she saw one of the babies one of our second born baby this year little Frankie the goat about this big he's about two weeks old and he somehow had got his head twisted up in the fence and the fencing is kind of like a net it's not like a it's not like a conventional fence it's an electric poultry netting that we use okay so the baby had his head stuck in the in the fence and its feet and its whole body were just kind of twisted and entangled in the fence there we didn't have the power on the electric fence because we didn't want to shock our little baby goats so hard so we had the power off of the fence I know some people had asked it you know you had an electric fence on your baby goats no we had the power off the fence the baby stuck his head in there kind of rolled around got twisted up in the fence and my wife found him yesterday morning so we brought him back to the house and we cleaned him up real good he was covered in mud his face had been down in the mud and he was in shock he his eyes were kind of swirling around he was kind of convulsing a little bit and I don't know that he wasn't he was on the way out he was dying and we tried to we try to do our best can everybody hear me okay just say yes I can hear you if you're not having any trouble there yes okay thank you mr. Hughes so anyhow the story goes on with the goat we got him home we cleaned him up really good and we started hitting them with warm blankets and a little bit of sugar water we didn't have electrolytes or anything here at the house or Gatorade or anything like that so we hit him with some sugar water to get him through then we ran over to tractor supply and got milk electrolytes two or three different types of electrolytes so that we could get him nice and rehydrated and about three hours later he started to respond a little bit more and as the night went on last night he responded a little bit more and he started going back that which is good our buffering and froze up that's not good so anyhow to make a long story short we'll kind of go over here and walk over here make a long story short here we tried everything we possibly could last night working on the baby goat and probably passed away sometime between 1:00 and 2:00 in the morning we got up all night long giving him a few drops every hour of fluid and milk and he was taking it he was waking up and taking it but he just didn't make it through the night so I just want to give you guys an update I feel like his neck was probably broken getting hung up in the fence like that and if you've ever owned goats then you understand that you know they they get caught in the fence sometimes and you can do everything that you can possibly think of to keep the goats out of the fence but they're going to get into the fence they're just natural Wanderers so he tried to wander out and got his head caught in the fence we also had another goat get hung up in some baling string and that was probably a couple weeks ago so we keep a close eye on the goats every day twice a day try to go up and check them and make sure everything's okay we can't just let them roam free because we've got a coyote problem right back here we're right behind my house and there were coyotes back in here like I'm gonna say three weeks ago something like that I just looked out the back window and the coyote was going right across there so we're in the country and it shows so it's just part of it sometimes life and death is just part of farming guys and I just wanted to let you know give you a little update on the baby goat he did not make it through the night despite all our efforts a lot of folks asked about taking him to the vet I could take him to a large animal that as an emergency type situation but it was pretty evident that either he was going to make it with hydration or he wasn't gonna make it so we worked with him he started drinking milk he did good he didn't seem to be in any pain but he passed away sometime around 1:00 a.m. this morning so thanks a lot for all your support guys I appreciate you come on back and see us here on the Stoney Ridge farm and maybe we'll have a little bit better outcome a little bit better day kind of a kind of a bad day so once again thanks a lot come on back and see me here on the Stoney Ridge farm subscribe the channel if you're not already subscribed and be sure you click the little bell down there I also want to give a shout out to arms family homestead Daniel at Arms family homestead if you guys haven't seen arms family homestead go check them out good people nice people down in Oklahoma really like them we went down there we took a little road trip and we stopped down at their place and I really liked them so thanks a lot thanks for the tip bumblebee Junction thanks for the super chat buddy I appreciate it you guys take care I appreciate you come on back and see me next time we'll have some better news okay Frankie the goats passed away
