What happens here

This project details the process of diagnosing and replacing leaking hydraulic hoses on a skid steer, which necessitates the removal and re-installation of the track. It also covers essential steps such as thoroughly cleaning the undercarriage and precisely tensioning the track using specialized tools and techniques to ensure proper machine operation and longevity.

[Music] foreign we've got water infiltrating into all of the buildings in this apartment complex that we're working on somewhere between 9 and 12 individual buildings are suffering extensive water damage and so today what you're going to see us doing is a combination of grading what we've got is a building and then we've got a divot or a pooling area right next to the foundation and sometimes today what we're going to be doing is cutting down the grade so that the water Can Shed away other times we're going to be adding enough fill soil into the pooling area so that the grades will shed properly and then we're going to be adding decorative rock and steel edging so we've got a really full day and a lot of work to do so let's just get this show rolling [Music] oh yeah [Music] so one of the things we have to be conscientious of is thermal heaving and here in Minnesota when we have a foundation underground the the heat from the building itself will keep the ground thawed about four foot out so if this is the building what will happen is a four foot zone out of the building this will always stay warm just from heat loss from the building but once you get outside of that four foot Zone then the frost can set in and this area can fluctuate up and down so at certain times of the year especially during Frost even the winter this will go up and in the spring it'll drop back down so sometimes your grades will look perfectly fine depending on the time of the year that you're looking at it and other times it'll look like it's just a pool capturing it yay Johnny [Music] foreign [Music] foreign good morning everyone so we had a little bit of a situation arise right at the end of the day yesterday so what happened was here that guy blue and then was this little one right underneath it so these ones aren't going and that spindle up there and this is where they're at there are these ones right here and uh you know you ain't got enough room to get in there and throw a wrench or nothing like that so gotta take the track off and a couple of other things so Alex is going to take this down to the yard um get that sorted out because they cracked those lines there's going to be quite a bit of hydraulic fluid coming out there and we're gonna try to save the parking lot all right foreign [Music] we absolutely so far love this Diamond Sea trailer but I also love trying out new equipment and we need a trailer for The Dump Truck our old equipment trailer just isn't cutting it we need something that can safely haul around our 36 000 pound excavator without us worrying about it so do you guys have any recommendations for a trailer manufacturer that could handle a big beefy boy something like that [Music] we're gonna watch all right so we decided to bring the cat down here to the shop that way if any excess hydraulic oil leaks it's going to leak onto our gravel yard down here rather than our customers uh parking lot and since it was only 15 minutes away we thought it was worthwhile just to do this so we got a hydraulic hose leaking see that the barbs are kind of showing on that wire right there there's some oil on there right now so it's kind of hard to see essentially that wire runs through the side wall there out to the track on this side here you can see them poking through right there and essentially attach right there so this is the one small hose that's leaking right there and this is the big hose that's leaking and unfortunately I don't think I'm going to be able to get a wrench or anything in between this track and this wall and actually have any room to turn it so I gotta take this right side track off to get access to that hose connection to loosen the bolt so it's going to be a little bit of a hassle just to get to the actual connection over there and then while I'm in here I'm gonna shop vac all this out to make a little cleaner while I'm working and then also check the hoses on the the right side of the machine and make sure that none of these hoses are leaking on this side at all just while we're in there we can replace those while we can but if they're good to go then we'll just keep rolling with them before I'm going to be doing any type of climbing around in here I certainly have the safety bar locked in place to make sure that this cab doesn't fall on you while I'm working in there that way I know I'm safe and comfortable while I'm getting in there because I'm gonna have to get up in there to get access to those hoses there [Music] all right so you can see we got the floor all cleaned up in there like at least where we're going to be working there's still a lot of dirt packed in the back but unfortunately I just don't have the time right now I mean you can see how much I already picked out there's a pile over there some here some there a little bit more there that's fairly full inside there I got the machine up on some blocks right now so I can start taking off this right side track and go ahead and start with taking this bolt off here all right so now that we're inside the little access cover there I like to take a bag and put that in here because as the grease squirts out it just goes right into the bag and you can grab the bag and pull it out it's easier to clean it up so then this right the Greaser right here you want to go one full turnaround no more so I'll just pop it Loose here [Music] out into the bag now for some reason another it seems like we're always handling tracks whether that's to change them out seasonally to go from dirt to snow tracks or just to do repairs and maintenance like you see us doing here we use a pro a process called the track Handler and it's kind of expensive and what the track Handler it is it's a system where you get a big giant reinforced mat a huge monster crowbar and then a ratchet strap of some sort and that's supposed to help you take it all off but we use their own hybridized version where we just use the mat by itself and a set of forks on a skid loader and we can get the process down to as little as five minutes to pop a track off and about another five minutes to pop it back on see that I mean it's almost spotless inside of there well I apologize for not catching much footage because I got got my head down and I started working and cranking and maybe now you can see that worn down put it right there that's where it's leaking from actually leaked off the back of this hose so I already got that one disconnected I had to disconnect a few back there to be able to get more clearance to get that one off I also removed I believe that might be uh air pulling air I'm not 100 sure um to this pump here you can see down here that's where the other connection was and boy was that buried under about a foot of dirt I couldn't believe how much dirt was actually kind of hard to see uh from the video but uh the dirt is up there and the hose is way down there at the bottom up we got these hoses all off got them disconnected from the track side over here at least one is this one is at least cracked loose so just a matter of pulling it through the side there and going down and getting some new hoses made [Music] all right so now that I got the hoses out I believe that you could really see what's going to get a better spot here see all the metal showing there and right there and then same on this uh smaller hose you can see the there's actually a hole right there you got these hoses out and uh we're off to go get some new ones all right got the new hoses here got the hydraulic fluid the hydraulic oil I got this one already started fishing into there I got all the hoses reconnected you can see the new ones I put in there right there brand new blue this right here is actually a hydraulic oil the main line to the pump there I wipe down all my connections to make sure that when I do start it up that none of them are dripping it looks like that one back there actually is dripping so I'm gonna have to investigate onto that and just make sure that it's tightened up enough and maybe the gasket isn't making a good seal I'll have to pull it off and evaluate it all right so I got it all filled up getting the cap put back on starting to get the cap bolts back in I already put this track in I already re-tightened the grease dirt so now it's just a matter of pumping some grease into the track get these uh cab bolts mounted up and uh take it off the Jacks and see how it runs [Music] it's uh locked down yep ready to rock and roll huh not really latching just put you got to push down on it still too push down on that yeah [Applause] it seems kind of sucked don't they you gotta push on it I am pushing on it [Applause] well I do it it's supposed to be on two fingers but that's how I did it on the last time tighten it a little more you go on to the other side there it's exactly two fingers because I mean it's going to stretch it [Music] to make sure that he's got all the potential leaks repaired before he brings it back out to the job site Alex wants to wash it down and give it a rinse over and that's going to help him to better visually inspect that while it's on the job site and keep an eye on all of those fittings that he had to replace just to make sure that they're fitting in the right spot but we got a lot more adventures coming up on the next video like I told you there's never a boring day when you're in construction and on the next job site I think it's going to prove that hope your jobs run smoothly and your equipment stays running and that's all we got for you today and we will see you hopefully tomorrow God bless go get him you guys catch you on the next one [Music]
