all right so what do we got what are we going to be doing next uh you're going to go over here with eric and you're going to start picture framing picture okay so i just want to show these guys what that means so they broom finish the inside and then just to dress up the outside that's what they're going to be doing but this takes skill so i don't know why they have me doing it that square up there needs to be over here the one up here that needs to be edged okay and then i jack this up here too bro right here you coming out bugs yes sir okay and then you want me to go in yeah okay can i just take the shortcut yeah but you don't want to knock all that you want to keep that concrete clean i'm kidding i'm kidding okay so which edge are we doing this here okay okay don't go too far eric oh yeah he's got to do that one where it's there where it's not in that one can i watch you do one yeah okay okay so walk me through this will you all you gotta do is just just not push too much okay so as you pull forward you lean back as you pull back so you're not scraping material and you're just trying to smooth it out okay okay so the secret stand picture framing is see that outside line that he's leaving uh-huh with the outside corner of the tool uh-huh that's what you're looking for you don't want it too deep but it has to be there you have to be able to see it you want that line you want that line yes okay all right that looks pretty good so that's what you're trying to replicate now eric is a master finisher so good luck well you can give it a go okay so we're gonna go good now you're going to want to apply more pressure on the outside of the tool so you can leave that line see you're missing the line yep yep yep i see that so put a little bit more down pressure right here [Applause] and then you can just straighten it in jeez look at i screwed that up right there see this is the kind of stuff that i would never want to do for a customer because if i couldn't get it right right right i wouldn't feel like i should i could charge them for it right you know i'd be like concrete's getting hard it's it's really difficult yeah you can't recover from it so i'm missing that line right here right there got it there you go all right so now i'm get i'm actually making the concrete kind of milky i'm noticing so much am i overworking it that's okay dan you're pretty much good at everything you try so far today well it's because i got good teachers that looks good it really does are we good are we okay nice work oh thank you sir hey now you got to say easy money hey guys can i ask you guys all a question what is like some of the beginner mistakes that guys make that you guys see doing it that may not be professionals in content working on time and not showing up for work that's the worst thing we got a small crew every guy counts one guy misses we all pay okay that's bugs guys meat bugs daryl three bugs what was your question so i'm looking for what do you guys think are some of the common mistakes that guys make when they're pouring concrete what do you what's what do you guys see happening out there like for a noob coming in what should they watch out for uh not going on puddling because that's a big thing getting the concrete down getting the concrete down in a timely fashion and making sure it's probably right for people who are striking off okay if you don't do that right it makes it harder what does puddling right mean uh make sure it's like when you're getting the concrete in front of the strikeoff at the right height otherwise the guys on that board it'll break their back it will and they get to okay let me say this the key to concrete or construction if you're willing to learn and willing to work everything else comes man yep that's the bottom line that's actually a good good way of putting it bugs what are you guys finding like is the beginner mistakes ryan what do you notice guys doing when they're pour their own concrete what do you what would you give what advice would you give them i guess i'll answer that in a little bit a different way okay i would say get around guys that know what they're doing get some experience first don't try to pour concrete just by watching videos or if you do start with something very small it's very helpful to get around around the right guys and even when you get on the right crew there's still certain guys that are the better guys you know the form and the guys that have been doing concrete a long time get around those guys and ask a lot of questions and that's how you learn how to do anything and do anything well even if you're starting to pester them a little bit continue to ask questions because pretty soon when you know what you're doing you're going to be their best friend bottom line anybody else any words of wisdom oh ourselves marcel's got 20 some years of stay in school wow no i enjoy doing it yeah for sure what do you guys think anything um don't leave holes when you're finishing okay and make sure you don't mess up the joints after they're cut don't start doing them crooked with your hand joiner oh yeah because ryan will notice yeah it was really important to leave the joints straight how it's supposed to be it's really important no holes you know uh-huh because then the water is going to have to stay there for you also make sure you clean up the whole job wipe splatter off the house and things like that that's the final touch that's leaves the lasting impression they can look at everything else all the hard work but if they see that one mud blotch on the wall guess what bugs them they have everybody's back man you know happy a team be a team that's the best thing if you don't have that it's not going to work yep any words of wisdom so what the [ __ ] what would what advice would you give guys pour in their own concrete good power buggy operator make sure you're prepared have everything ready because um otherwise i'll be in a good mood too because so you got kind of clouds rowdies you're mad about every little thing that makes all these guys upset and they're not going to work as hard no and and they're nice i can't agree with you more good point okay so there's actually a trick to pulling the form and daryl's going to show us the trick uh which form are you going to pull all right i'm going to stay i'm going to be right here i want to watch you and i want you to kind of walk me through how to pull this form because oh boy wait wait what's daryl's nickname again daryl the destroyer daryl the destroyer okay because this edge is a important part and make sure the nails are taken out yeah and then slowly pull the pin grab it and then you want to tap these down and then when you're tapping it down you pull it away it's like that one over there just like that there we go all right so because we did multi-direction you want to be very careful you don't go beyond the joint so you want to set them bristles down right in the joint yep and then drag it back towards you i already adjusted the head you want to keep it at a low bristle angle you don't want the bristles to come up and be anywhere near vertical you want to keep that handle low like this yes so about here yep and then just throw it out there and let the weight of it slop down as deep as it can go into the concrete wiggle it like that a little bit and then pull hard right don't wiggle it ryan's like this is my work we're dealing with here all right so start on one corner yeah we're good brother actually that room is just about the right way yep jeez now let the weight settle down and then just drag it towards you nice and straight look at that they're beautiful man everything you try you're like a pro so it didn't leave quite the impression we're looking for so repeat what you just did one more time okay okay we do that to the noobs on our crew too you're not fooling me you can't tell the difference between what i did and what you did that's what you're looking for it looks great man good good work all right good job good enough okay thanks for the opportunity you guys okay so now we get to actually watch a pro do it oh yeah that's why you're doing it and he's got to go to the other angle too so he doesn't have a good grip on that so that light broom finish if you guys don't know you need that otherwise when it rains you're going to be slipping and sliding on your butt no don't come in the bushes go over by stance so stan you're gonna want to film this okay because this is my signature move right here i always do this on the last broom stroke of the job okay it's very important anybody that pours concrete out there they have to do this it is the utmost importance easy money and that's it that's it she's a wrap all right you guys well ryan makes it all look really easy but there is a whole lot of skill involved in this but if you guys are interested in concrete i'm going to tell you right now and you just kind of want to feel like you're part of the crew i've just been sitting here hanging out with the guys i could have left a long time ago they're they're legitimately as fun to hang out with as they are on camera but i kind of want to just introduce you and let ryan introduce himself to you about your channel i kind of just wanted to let you guys watch it but ryan tell me a little bit about your channel if you don't mind so these guys can can know what they're getting into with you yep so the channel is pretty much all about concrete we pour concrete driveways patios sidewalks and it's not so much instructional as it is just fun to watch it's relaxing it's enjoyable you can sit down and eat your meal turn it on and laugh along with the guys feel like you're part of the crew that's kind of what i'm going for and a lot of people enjoy it it's relatable i have a lot of characters here on the crew which makes it a lot of fun to watch but these are the guys you've worked with for 20 some years so this is like how you've actually legitimately ran your business for a long time and it works yeah some people think i threw this crew together to make youtube videos that's not the case i've had these guys working for me for a very long time most of them and uh when i considered doing a youtube channel you know i i was like man i already have a cast of characters these guys are funny guys everybody's unique and i thought that uh i thought it would take off because people would enjoy watching some of these guys like daryl jr yes daryl the destroyer and you know all my guys are fun guys to be around i got the gritty old finish here bugs my main right hand man right there and now we got jade the dog so we're just out here having fun we're midwest guys you know just having fun pouring concrete we wake up early every morning we lace up our boots we go home at night we can look at what we did and appreciate the work that we did and be proud of something and i i love that where are guys gonna find your channel it's victory outdoor services that's the channel i have a second channel victory style too that's different content but we're looking for victory outdoor services with the concrete victory outdoor services check them out and they're coming to minnesota this winter and i'm putting them all in loaders
