What happens here
This project details a comprehensive landscaping and grading effort around an apartment complex. It covers several tasks including repairing a hydraulic hose on a skid steer, precision trenching and edging, spreading pulverized black dirt for proper drainage and planting, installing landscape fabric and drainage gravel, and fine-grading. The video emphasizes the importance of proper grading and material selection for long-term effectiveness and utility protection.

(6,187 characters)so yeah that's not super great what happened was we replaced or alex replaced these two hoses going up into here uh last week and the one hose that didn't replace blue so here's where we're at alex is scooting up to uh the menards here to get some stuff so that we can get this all cleaned up off of the parking lot before it gets all stained up and stuff and uh i think we're gonna be fixing a skid the rest of the day piece of advice for y'all don't be buying equipment site on scene because that's what happened with this cat and we have had nothing but problems with this thing just nothing but problems well you want any help with this are you good good okay get a shot of this exploded line look at that right there that's a fat hole oh it's this one right here the one with the hole uh it's the one that's uh that's the one with the hole whatever one you're moving right now yep that's it gosh this thing was such a lemon man yeah i'm talking about in conjunction with all the other stuff yeah nothing like uh nothing like field repairs hey man it was a win to get a permit today i walked into a office you talked to an actual person talk to the clerk no should be a permit it's like what didn't have to do without waiting for a week or weeks or months yes it's uh it's a permit and we got it's a it's a taking taking down a pool house and taking out a pool nice you gotta give your first like yeah yeah you gotta give up some organs for that huh yeah that's it yeah fun stuff john why does everything break when you're out here i was asking myself the same question think the fbi has anything to do with it probably [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] hmm wait a minute dirt monkey in the earlier videos on this series i saw you guys digging the steel edging in by hand and now all of a sudden you got an edger what the heck is the deal going on with that well in a moment i'll explain to you why we have an edger now and why we were digging it in by hand before but if you could take your best guess put it in the comments down below and i'll come back in and fill you in on a little bit of the the method behind the madness all right you guys so the reason why in earlier videos you've seen us digging it in by hand is because we were just plain too cheap to rent an edger now that isn't it at all fact of the matter is we were focusing on all of the most difficult areas in the beginning that we had to hand dig in because of utilities anywhere that we have utilities within two or three feet of our dig zone we have to do it by hand if we hit those utilities with a piece of power equipment we're liable for so we've got to make extra sure that we're not hitting any utilities and we just did the most difficult places at first just to get them out of the way and then we saved all the easy places so once we rented an edger we could just bang all those out at once so dermock you wait a minute why are you putting black dirt around the perimeter of that building because in previous videos i've seen you putting decorative rock on top of that and that's really not a combination that makes a whole lot of sense so i'm going to give you guys a moment to try to figure that out and then i'll come back and explain exactly what we're doing and why we're actually using pulverized screen black dirt around the perimeter of the building versus structural fill soil well there's so much going on today trying to do four things at once and it ain't working out so well but alex is getting started on the back of this building over here but this bit along the back of the building here oh excuse me this all used to be mulch and at some point it just peeled up all the mulch left the fabric as you can see and just rolled side out on top of it so it was going from end of the building to the end of the building all the way out so it's been fun trying to scrape so you have seen us using pulverize screen black dirt and what we're doing is we're raising the grade around the building and this is a little bit counter-intuitive because the pulverized screen black dirt has some organic material in it and that can break down but we're not using it in abundance in any one area meaning we're not putting this much black dirt in any one spot and most we've got two to three inches of black dirt and here's the thing we're not doing the finish landscaping on this project so another landscape company could be coming behind us and using our decorative rock border that we're putting in and planting that and if we have all structural fill soil nothing will survive we've got to have just enough organic material in that subsoil that will allow any decorative plants to grow but we're also have specified that the pulverized screen black dirt that we're using has a higher clay content so it's going to resist settlement and it's going to hold its shape better than if it was just purely a silty loamy black dirt alone so we get the best of both worlds we're able to use it for a grading material and shaping material but we can also have it so that we're able to grow mater grow plants wherever we choose along the landscape border get there trying to save a buck all right yep oh the grass was growing pretty good on top of there all right good morning everyone this friday and we're almost done with this freaking massive job it hasn't been a hard one it's just been like really really repetitive uh so we got like a building and a half to get done so hope we're shooting him we'll have that wrapped up and then we'll just have like three days of cleaning this place up and whatnot so [Music] all right by this point y'all should know i like my animals right so we came across a little little baby bunny look at that cute little guy he was in our way so we made him a little bunker and hopefully he's okay look at that cutie he's so tiny i can hear some of you guys right now well he should have replaced all those hoses when he had that thing opened up but here's what i'm going to tell you alex has big arms and a short temper so if i were you i wouldn't say that out loud and that's all we got for you on today's video god bless you guys go get em we'll catch you on the next one
