Simple Way To Hide Your Awkward Laundry Closet
What happens here
To add a modern and clean aesthetic, vertical shiplap is installed on the back and side walls of the laundry nook. Apply construction adhesive (e.g., Liquid Nails) to the back of each shiplap board before securing them with a brad nailer. Prioritize starting with a full piece in prominent corners and working outwards to maintain a consistent pattern. Simultaneously, construct frames for two floating shelves and a lower countertop using 2x2 lumber. These frames are essential to provide strong, hidden support for the shelves and countertop. The shelves are positioned to provide approximately 17 inches of folding space above the countertop, similar to standard kitchen cabinet spacing.
Goal: Install vertical shiplap on the back and side walls of the laundry nook. Construct and install 2x2 wooden frames to support the floating shelves and countertop.
