Drill Out Stubborn Stems (Hitting Studs)

What happens here

If a button stem encounters a stud directly behind the siding and cannot be tapped into the wall cavity, you will need to drill it out. Use a drill with a 1/4 inch drill bit to carefully drill through the plastic stem. The drill bit should easily cut through the plastic, allowing the stem to be removed and clearing the hole for a new fastener.
