Painting a Metal Roof. Painting with an airless paint sprayer.

In this video, we're going to be showing you how to paint a a metal roof. We've got a metal roof up here. We're going to be spraying it with DTM. And we're going to be power washing it first and then priming it with a DTM bonding primer and then spraying it with a black DTM. We're up here. We're going to be powerwashing this the top of this roof. And while power washing, you want to make sure you're not working towards the water when you're power washing. You want to power wash and walk towards the dry portion of the roof. The roof's not very steep at all, so you shouldn't have a problem slipping. But if the roof pitch is a little bit steep and you could slide off the roof because you're standing on a wet roof, it's good to power wash away from you and and back away as you're power washing. So, you'll see us power washing using that technique. This is Chris the Idaho Painter. We're going to start priming the roof behind me now. We're masking it off and we got it powerwashed about 2 hours ago. It's all dry, ready to be primed. About an hour later and we're now spraying the black DTM over the primer over the DTM bonding primer. We're using a Graco Contractor 2 gun with a Rack X310 tip to spray this roof. Got our pressure set very light so it doesn't create very much overspray.
