Removing Shutters with Shur-Lok Fasteners. Window Shutter Removal.

What happens here

In some cases, a shutter button might hit a wall stud or window framing, preventing it from being pushed into the wall cavity. If this happens, use a cordless drill equipped with a 1/4 inch drill bit. Carefully drill directly into the center of the stubborn plastic button base. The plastic should drill out easily, clearing the hole. Note: This method is only for plastic buttons; wood behind the plastic will be harder to drill through but will create a clear path.

Goal: Clear holes where buttons hit studs or framing.

for your new shutter button. Sometimes when you go to tap them in, they're going to hit possibly a stud in the back. Then you're going to have to get a drill and you'll have to drill that button out and create a new hole. Take your five in one, slightly tap on them. It doesn't create, you don't have to use a whole lot of force. to just cut the end of that shutter button off. I don't know why we call them shutter buttons, but they're easy lock shutter buttons. You see there's typically a lot of wasp and hornets behind that you got to clean out. Lightly grip it. If you grip it too hard with the wire cutters, it actually cuts the plastic. So, you got to be careful and just barely grip it. Rock it back. And we like these wire cutters cuz they got a round head and it creates leverage.
