Power Company Comes WHAT A MESS!

What happens here

Begin digging the trench using heavy machinery like a mini-excavator (the video shows a Kubota KX057-4). The trench needs to be dug to a minimum depth required by local electrical codes for high-voltage lines, which in this case is about 3 feet deep. Ensure the trench follows the planned route, avoiding any marked utility lines. In this project, a long 800-foot trench was dug from the main power pole to the shop building.

Goal: Dig a trench of sufficient depth and length for the underground power line.

Tools and materials

  • Kubota KX057-4 Mini-Excavator Kubota — Digging the 3-foot deep, 800-foot long trench for the power lines
  • Shovel — Hand-digging in sensitive areas near existing utilities or for finishing the trench
