Pinhole Leak Flooded the Basement!

What happens here

The first critical step is to shut off the main water supply to the house. The existing internal gate valve leading to the old hose bib is also closed. To drain any remaining water from the lines before cutting, both the outdoor hose bib and an indoor sink faucet are opened until water flow ceases.

Goal: Safely isolate and drain the water from the affected plumbing section.

Tools and materials

  • Existing Gate Valve — To isolate the water supply to the old hose bib
  • Existing Main Water Shut-Off Valve — To turn off the water supply to the entire house
  • Sink Faucet — To help drain water from the pipes
