Painting A Brick Fireplace. Hacks Painting Bricks or Concrete. DIY How to paint bricks or stone.

What happens here

Apply the first thin coat of water-based concrete stain to the brick fireplace using the airless sprayer. Since the original brick is dark and the stain is light, multiple coats will be required for full opacity. For the first coat, focus on applying an even, thin layer without back-brushing or back-rolling immediately, just spraying. Ensure all angles and crevices of the brick and grout lines are reached. Wear a respirator to protect against inhaling airborne particles from the sprayer.

Goal: Apply an initial thin and even coat of concrete stain to the entire brick surface.

Tools and materials

back brush and back roll. Through this color being extremely light, this is a light color going over some really dark brick. We're just going to spray a nice thin coat over it first cuz it's going to take multiple coats. We won't back rush or back roll our first coat. We're just going to spray it. So, we're just getting that sprayed real quick. If you are using a sprayer, it definitely is a good idea to use a mask. We're not using masks cuz we're trying to explain things in the video, but make sure you wear a respirator. [Music] There's still water in there. It's just making it, you know, dusty. [Music]
