This Chris the Idaho painter in this video. I'm going to teach you four simple ways how to beat your speeding ticket And I know some of you out there wondering how a simple painter from Boise Idaho can teach you how to beat a speeding ticket And I'm going to tell you right now well a long time ago I used to be a law enforcement officer right here in Boise, Idaho and the Treasure Valley I worked for the Boise City Police Department and the Ada County Sheriff's Department and I've given out hundreds of speeding tickets And I've also gotten to court myself on speeding tickets and beat them And now I'm going to tell you the secrets, four secrets, how you can actually beat your speeding ticket So stay tuned right now So here we go with the four secrets how to beat a speeding ticket And before I start with this I don't condone speeding in any way or form or breaking the law If you're speeding you are breaking the law and you really should slow down But there are those cases where you'll receive a speeding ticket And I know some of us can't afford a speeding ticket I know some of us have got multiple speeding tickets And if we get another one we'll get a suspended license Or you just can't afford to have your insurance go up So there are reasons to fight your speeding ticket even though you were speeding But once again I don't condone speeding so slow down and obey the law But here we go with those four secrets So I'm going to start off with secret number one And that's one of them that most of us already know I've discussed this simple little secret and that's going to court and showing up And the officer not showing up And yes if the officer doesn't show up to court, the speeding ticket is actually dismissed And why would an officer not show up to court? When I was a police officer, when I'm on duty, there's a lot of things that I could get called to That will take me away from showing up in court for a simple little speeding ticket That doesn't matter a whole lot There's a lot more important things that police officers have to take care of If the speeding ticket is on one of my days off, we actually got paid overtime to show up to court So it's actually a big incentive to go to court to testify against a defendant when it comes to any type of ticket So typically the officer is always going to show up But here again, there's reasons as the officer could be on vacation or something you just never know So that's one simple way just fighting the ticket and showing up to court And yes, it will be dismissed so that is secret number one So here's secret number two and that is fighting a ticket if you're caught on radar And I'm going to discuss a little bit about the radar guns and how you can actually be the speeding ticket if you're caught on radar And it's actually quite simple And to start off the day a police officer has could have multiple radar guns in the vehicles And just like any type of electronic device, they have to be calibrated or they could be off And a speeding ticket is based on this calibration of this device And every single day you have to calibrate the device to make sure it's working properly Because there's a lot of factors that could actually make this device not work properly So when I started my day, we used tuning forks to actually calibrate the radar And we would tap these tuning forks together and those tuning forks would, when you presented them in front of the radar gun It would give you a speed and those tuning forks are actually calibrated to an exact speed And if your radar gun didn't give you the speed that the tuning forks were then the radar guns not calibrated properly So every single day you had to calibrate your radar guns And I'll tell you as a police officer when I worked in law enforcement, probably 90% of the time I didn't actually tune my radar guns before I actually went out into the field and worked So if I was ever asked in court if I calibrated my radar guns before I went out, I would have actually actually had to say If I was an honest police officer which I was, I would say no, I didn't calibrate them And so that in itself would create reasonable doubt whether you're speeding or not And reasonable doubt is one simple way to get your speeding ticket dismissed So here's tip number three when it comes to getting your speeding ticket dismissed And this is getting right back to radar guns if you're actually caught on a radar gun In a radar gun there's one thing that's key about a radar gun or radar device that's detecting your speed And that is the angle of the flexion And when a police officer is sitting on the side of the road and reading your speed using a radar gun He's not actually directly in front of you for a radar gun to actually be 100% accurate The object has to be coming or traveling directly at the gun And typically an officer is going to be sitting on the side of the road And there's an angle that that radar gun or the device is sitting at And to actually actually read the speed of the vehicle or the oncoming traffic coming to the radar gun And that is what we call the angle of deflection And you actually have to have that measurement of what your angle is And there's a calculation as a police officer that you use once you know that angle of deflection And you get your speed reading and you got to go through that calculation and write that down And then that will give you the true speed What is actually on the radar gun is not the true speed until you calculate in the angle of deflection And I'll tell you when I was a police officer there was in one case Where I ever actually got out of my vehicle from where my vehicle was And actually measured where I was actually shooting my radar gun to get that angle of deflection Now now there are police officers out there that do it and do that calculation So give them a proper reading but that is one simple way There's a very high chance that the officer couldn't present in court the angle of deflection You were at that he'd only present that the reading of the radar gun So once you ask what the angle of deflection is and he doesn't know it That's going to create some type of reasonable doubt that your speed wasn't the actual speed that was on the radar gun So reasonable doubt is a simple way of how to get your speeding ticket actually dismissed So bring that up in court, ask the officer what was your angle of deflection when you actually caught me on the radar gun And see if you can answer it. I'm probably guessing you probably won't So now on to tip number four when it comes to beating your speeding ticket And that's what the radar gun and there's a few types of radar guns out there And there's actually a laser radar gun that wasn't very common when I was a police officer And you could actually look through like a gun site and you could actually pinpoint one vehicle in a group of vehicles And you can get the actual speed of that actual vehicle But I actually use a radar that was more commonly used and it would actually send out a large cone A cone that would actually detect oncoming objects and it would always pick up the largest object that was coming to it So one thing you want to know is or ask in court is are you sure officer that my vehicle was the largest object that was actually approaching your vehicle Or could your radar gun have been picking up a semi behind you or a larger truck on the side of you at that point in time So you definitely want to ask in question the officer about surrounding vehicles and who is surrounding you at that point in time And is it possible that that radar gun could have been picking up some other larger object And if that officer can't say 100% in court without a doubt that it was picking up you That is reasonable doubt that maybe it was picking up another vehicle traveling away from him or traveling to him Because it isn't actually tell you on the radar gun is just giving you a speed of an object that's moving away from you or towards you So that is another way to present reasonable doubt in front of the court to get that ticket dismissed So one of your ticket was actually based on an officer's visual estimation of your speed and not actually a radar gun which is actually possible So when I was a police officer I actually went through a course that actually gave me the ability to visually estimate vehicle speeds and write a ticket based on visual estimation So if there was a ticket or you received a ticket that was based on visual estimation you can always take it the court and actually ask the officer specifically what type of training did he actually have to give him that ability to do visual estimations And then you want to actually ask him how long ago that training was and what type of certification he got in that training And if he can't present any type of certification or present the fact that he went through training to do visual estimations Maybe that in itself is going to give you reasonable doubt or give the judge reasonable doubt to dismiss that ticket because the speed Maybe he was just off on his visual estimation of his speed So look at the ticket itself and you want to determine how that ticket was actually given to you was a visual estimation, was it radar or maybe he's even pacing you with a car So there's also some other key elements when it comes to actually radar guns that could actually affect the radar gun and given the proper speed that could present reasonable doubt when you actually go to court And if you're in a downtown area where there's a lot of banks or there's devices that could affect the radar gun there's a lot of things bank alarm systems are one thing that would also wreak havoc with radar guns and stuff like that So look at the whole surrounding area and just look at that and make sure check buildings and stuff like that because you could go to court and question the fact whether the radar gun was being affected by any types of elements or buildings or structures that could have some type of interference that would affect the radar gun so you want to question the officer about that also because that could present reasonable doubt also to the judge and the court So what if you were actually caught speeding and you weren't caught on a radar gun or caught in a visual estimation but you're caught being paced by a police officer That is if he was behind you traveling behind you and he caught you going that speed you can actually go into the court system and or in court fight your ticket and question the validity of the officer's vehicle and whether his speedometer has been calibrated properly So you want to ask the officer when was the last time the vehicle you were in had a calibrated speedometer or when was it calibrated because now when I was a police officer I never knew that information and I was when I showed up to work I was just assigned a vehicle that day was a different vehicle every single day I just jumped in that vehicle and started driving went out there and wrote tickets in a lot of different ways by visual estimations by radar guns and by pacing but I didn't know 100% sure that that speedometer was going 50 miles an hour when it said it was going 50 miles an hour or the vehicle was traveling that fast So if I was if the judge asked me or if the defendant asked me do I know 100% sure that I was my vehicle was traveling 50 miles an hour when the speedometer said that I would have to say no And so that would give the judge and the court reasonable doubt that maybe you weren't actually going 50 miles an hour So that is another simple way of creating reasonable doubt Here's another simple tip when it comes to speeding tickets also that are in regards to excessive speed And excessive speed was when I was working as anything 20 miles an hour over the speed limit And that is a lot higher but fine it actually costs more points on your driving record and if you do fight one of those tickets I would say probably 95% of the time that people went to court the prosecutors and the officer We didn't want to sit there and go in front of the judge because nobody has the time We just we all the prosecutors are always trying to negotiate deals and drop charges down to lower charges So they'll try to work a deal with you so they can just get it done and get you out when you let the officer go And so excessive speed tickets will always be dropped down to or typically always be dropped down to just a regular infraction Which is at nearly the point and what which is at nearly the money So that's a simple way of saving you some money and saving you some money or saving you some points on your driving record Make sure prior to going to court you have your whole plan of attack actually mapped out And you really need to go to the site of where you actually got the ticket You should determine where that police officer was sitting at the point in time so you can actually measure the angle of deflection You want to research that on the internet, what the angle of deflection is so you can measure it out You want to be able to go to the court system, draw up a map, where the officer's sitting, where were you when you actually were caught on radar And you definitely need to come up and try to remember what vehicles were around you that could have distorted his radar Or that he could have been picking up and not you So you want to make sure you have all that stuff detailed out, mapped out in your mind or on a piece of paper So you go extremely prepared Just going to court doesn't mean you're going to get your ticket dismissed You've got to be prepared and you've got to be ready for the fight Being professional is going to be one key element when it comes to fighting your ticket and court When you go to court you definitely want to dress your bass You don't want to go and just raggy street clothes You want to try to dress up in a suit and tie if you can Look neat and clean You want to respect the judge, respect the officer there And respect the court system and talk politely And answer questions and ask questions politely in a respectful manner Hope you've enjoyed this simple video and how to beat a speeding ticket And once again, I don't condone speeding It's better that you just drive the speed limit It's safer for my kids and it's safer for your kids and it's safer for yourself So slow down but if you get a ticket don't forget you can beat that ticket in court If you have any more tips or tricks than I presented right here just leave them in the comments below It has been a long time since I've been a police officer So I know there's going to be some things that have changed when it comes radar guns Or methods of how to beat speeding tickets I would like to read about them and so would my subscribers I'm sure So just leave them right in the comments below And thanks again for watching my videos on the Idaho Painter
