Assembling the Pond Intake Filter

Nonstop water pumping system no power...complete simple setup explained!
What happens here
A simple intake filter is constructed to prevent debris from entering the ram pump system. This involves cutting a section of 4-inch Schedule 40 PVC pipe to the desired length (approximately 16 inches). A reducer is attached to one end of the PVC pipe, stepping down from 4 inches to 2 inches, and then another reducer steps down from 2 inches to 1 inch. The 1-inch opening will connect to the poly-pipe. A piece of window screen is wrapped around the larger 4-inch PVC pipe and secured with zip ties, folding the screen to seal the ends. This creates a coarse filter to protect the pump from larger debris.
Goal: Construct a simple filter to protect the ram pump intake from debris.
