My Fourth Race EVER in Vintage NASCAR Monte Carlo! Things Get Crazy...

What happens here

The driver recounts a post-race incident where a female staff member tried to attack his girlfriend in the pits. He commends Chrissy Wallace for defusing the situation, noting that 'Wallace's are good people.' He criticizes the Super Cup staff's behavior, suggesting personnel changes are needed, or his team won't return next year. He then emphasizes his commitment to running the Super Cup series, describing himself as a 'driver' and not just an 'owner-driver.'

Goal: Address issues with staff behavior and plan for future series participation

and not so much actual freaking racing. But a wise man once said, "To finish first, you must first finish." So, I'm working on that first finishing part and successful in that capacity. Even though I'm not really getting to sink my teeth into stuff like I want to. Second pays the same as last in this series. I have no points to fight for. There's literally zero incentive. I don't care what the finishing position is so much. I'm just here to learn stuff. I want to learn the racecraft, the the multiple layers of working through the problem solving of how do I pass somebody when the first, second, and third thing I want to do does not work. All that stuff. I want to be in those situations. That's why I didn't try to stick my nose in there whenever Mike Wallace got clobbered and he was falling back cuz I thought, okay, maybe I can actually get some good experience out of this. That's what I want. That's why I don't like these competition cautions because they they just turn it into a single file parade and there's no freaking racing. I mean, driving around in the car by yourself is it's fun for a little bit, but once you do it enough, it's just it's monotonous really. I was on the radio asking the spotter, "What lap is it? What lap is it? Can we get to the fun part yet?" And now we're at the fun part because my car feels good. I don't know why, but it finally kind of came in. Maybe the track is cleaned off from enough people running on it, but it's feeling good. But I can really dig in there and I'm catching up to people and maybe the whole saving my tires thing earlier in the race is paying dividends for me right now. There's only a few laps to go and I want to see if I can pass the 18 car.
