My Fourth Race EVER in Vintage NASCAR Monte Carlo! Things Get Crazy...

What happens here

The driver notes that his car finally feels good. He then shares his observations about the track: a car with an oil leak was sent back out, potentially making the surface slick. Combined with a heavy fuel load and low tire pressure, the car's handling is unpredictable. He decides to stay close to Mike Wallace and save his tires until the competition caution.

get in the car. So, there's a couple circumstances that make this particularly interesting here that I've not dealt with before. One is there was a guy who crashed and practiced pretty bad and had an oil leak because of the crash. Well, he was able to patch his car back together in the meantime during the day. And they thought it'd be a good idea to send him out there for a few laps by himself just to see if he leaked any more oil, which to me that just seems like you're going to go fog up the entire racing surface if you're wrong. I don't know why they did that. The risk was not worth the reward there. And I'm not completely convinced that they think it's okay. They said it's okay, but heck, I've had cars leak oil before. I know what they do. You think it's done? It's not. There's a little mist there. You just don't know. So, I'm fully anticipating this surface to be slipperier than I think it will be because usually the track will get better when the sun goes down. It gets tightens up. You got more grip. You got your good tires on there. You can send it in harder. You can drive out harder. Everything is just like primed and ready to go. Now, in this case, I also put more gas in the car because I have a 22gallon cell and I normally don't run more than I need, but this race is longer, so I put more in there. I also started my tire pressure lower anticipating the buildup during the race. So, between those three factors, I really have no idea what it's going to feel like when I go in there. I'm just going to try to
