Masking Carpet With Painters Tape. How To Mask Carpet. House painting tips. 3M masker.

What happens here

If you opted for the spray painting method, load your 3M hand masker with 9-inch masking paper and 1-inch tape. Begin applying the paper and tape combination along the base of the baseboard. After the hand masker has dispensed the materials, use your fingers to carefully tuck the 1-inch tape and the leading edge of the 9-inch paper underneath the baseboard and into the carpet pile. Ensure the tape is pressed tightly against the baseboard, with about 1/8 to 1/4 inch of the tape and paper tucked beneath, to create a secure barrier against overspray.

Goal: Use a hand masker to apply paper and tape, then tuck them under the baseboard for spray painting.
