What happens here
To create a splice where two pieces of J-trim meet on a straight run, prepare one end by measuring and marking an inch back from the end. Draw a line at a 70-degree angle from this mark. Cut along the 70-degree angle, then use a utility knife to open up the small hem on the back side of the trim. For an inside corner, measure and mark the corner point on the trim. Use a speed square to draw lines all the way around the J-trim at this mark. Then, mark and cut a 45-degree angle from the inside edge of the trim, forming a 'V' shape. Use the utility knife to open up the hem on the back of the J-trim at the cut. This allows the trim to fold neatly for an inside corner.
Goal: Cut and shape J-trim sections for seamless splices and inside corner joints.
