Before I put metal on the ceiling, I need to J-trim the whole perimeter. Let's get after it. First things first, you're going to want to measure your first run. Make sure when you measure, you measure to the middle of your floor joist, your truss. You don't want to have two pieces joining right here. You want to be able to fasten it. Now, to fasten this J-trim up here, I'm using 18-gauge crown staples. Make sure you set the depth of your nailer, so you don't blow through the steel. Now, we got to do our inside corner and a splice. Here's how to join them. Take your utility knife, slip your blade in there, and just open it up. The end that we're going to splice, I measured in an inch and I drew this to like 70° angle. I just go ahead and just cut that corner. Now, when you're up on the ceiling, you have this piece that you open that little hem up, and you have this piece, and they'll just slide right together, and it'll look like that. So, now we got to cut our inside corner. I'm just going to mark all the way around it. Drop a 45 on there. Now that I got this 45 cut out of here and the back cut, I'm going to put my knife in there and open this lip, and now we can take this and fold it right over top, so it looks like that. We're going to put this in our splice here. Here's our splice, and there's our corner. Both look great. Now, let's say you got to cut an outside corner like I did here. We're going to take our first piece here, and we're going to measure an inch down and cut it out. Now, our inch down is the width of this. Now that we got our inch cut out, we're going to put it to the side. And now we're going to do this piece. We're going to cut an inch out of the back, but we're just going to fold it. We're not going to cut it off. Now, it should look something like this. Just take this piece and just fold it back like that. Once we have this tab, we're just going to trim a little bit of the edges off, make it like a point. So, now we're going to go ahead and we're going to put a 45 right here and cut that out. And lock in here like this, and just like that, you have your outside corner. Anyways, I'm going to go ahead. I got a whole garage worth of metal to hang, and I'll catch you guys later. Peace.
