Reach underneath the sink to locate the angle stop valve (also known as a shut-off valve) for the specific faucet being worked on. Using an adjustable wrench, carefully turn the handle or knob counter-clockwise ('lefty loosey') to completely shut off the water flow. Ensure the water is fully off before attempting to disconnect the supply line to prevent flooding.
