Is Your Sump Pump Failing? How to Replace It Yourself (Save Money!)
What happens here
Plug the new sump pump's power cord into an electrical outlet. Observe the pump as the water level rises in the pit; the float switch should rise and activate the pump, causing it to discharge water. As the water level drops, the float switch should fall and turn off the pump. Ensure the float switch operates correctly, activating the pump when the water reaches a certain level and deactivating it when the water is removed. Once proper operation is confirmed, carefully place the sump pit cover back over the pit.
Goal: Plug in the new sump pump to test its automatic operation and replace the sump pit cover.
