Is Your Sump Pump Failing? How to Replace It Yourself (Save Money!)
What happens here
Connect a hose to a portable transfer pump, such as the Milwaukee M12 'suck stick' transfer pump, and place the pump end into the deepest part of the standing water on the basement floor. Thread the female end of the garden hose onto the portable pump's outlet. Turn on the pump to begin draining the water into a suitable discharge area, like a floor drain or outdoor area, to reduce the overall water level before accessing the main sump pit.
Goal: Before removing the main sump pump, use a portable transfer pump to drain a significant amount of the standing water from the basement floor and sump pit.
