Installing Pex Water Main Line...Part 1
What happens here
At the water meter, remove the existing brass nipple by using two pipe wrenches in opposing directions: a 12-inch ratcheting pipe wrench for the nipple and an 18-inch rigid aluminum pipe wrench for backup. Prepare a new brass nipple by wrapping its threads approximately 7-10 times with white Teflon tape, ensuring to keep the tape away from the tip of the threads to prevent clogs. Then, apply a layer of MegaLock pipe dope over the Teflon tape. Screw the prepared nipple into the water meter connection by hand until it's hand-tight, then use the pipe wrenches to tighten it securely, using the 12-inch ratcheting pipe wrench for the final tightening.
Goal: Create a secure, sealed connection point at the water meter
