Installing Pex Water Main Line...Part 1
What happens here
Before installation, pre-fabricate the new shut-off valve assembly. Start by cleaning the ends of a short piece of copper pipe and a 3/4 inch PEX adapter with a sanding cloth and then apply No Corrode flux to both ends. Solder the PEX adapter to one end of the copper pipe and the new 3/4 inch quarter-turn ball valve to the other end. Ensure the valve is oriented so the handle points in the direction of water flow when open and the drain port is at the lowest point, allowing for system drainage if needed. Use a propane torch and Silver Brite lead-free solder for the joints. A custom-made 'headless chicken' tool can be used to hold the pieces during soldering.
Goal: Assemble the new valve and PEX adapter for installation
