Installing Exterior Window Trim. The Idaho Painter Way.
What happens here
Before painting, apply painter's tape to the edges of the window glass and any adjacent siding that you do not want painted. The video shows green painter's tape used for this purpose. Also, cover the window glass with plastic sheeting or paper to protect it from paint splatters. Once the area is masked, apply a coat of primer to all the new trim surfaces using a small roller. For detailed areas and edges, use a small paintbrush. Allow the primer to dry according to the manufacturer's instructions. After the primer is dry, apply two coats of exterior paint, allowing adequate drying time between coats. Once the final coat of paint is dry to the touch, carefully remove all painter's tape and plastic sheeting to reveal the newly trimmed and painted window.
