Proper pump pressure and tip condition are essential for minimizing overspray. For exterior painting, maintain pump pressure between 2200-2500 PSI. Using worn-out or 'blown-out' tips will result in a lot of paint fallout, which can land on plants, concrete, and other surfaces. Always use new, good-quality tips that are in good condition. Typically, a tip should be replaced after painting about 3 to 4 houses.

So, we got John spraying in the background here and I'm going to talk about a little bit of the um some of the things you need to help control overspray when it um doesn't come to the cardboard shields and holders and stuff like that, but it's your pump and your tips. And if your pump pressure is up to pump pressure is up way too high, then that's going to send out a lot more paint than is needed and you could cause a lot of overspray that way. So, you definitely want to have the right pump pressure. And when we're spraying exteriors, we're always running our pumps at 2200 PSI. Between 2200 and 2500 PSI, another thing is your tips. And if you're using worn out or blown out tips, you're definitely going to have a lot more fallout that's going to get on plants, can get on concrete, stuff like that. So, you definitely want to use uh good quality tips and tips that are new and in in good condition. We typically use a tip uh for about three to four houses and then we get rid of it. That's about the life of a tip. A lot of one of the biggest mistakes is using that tip for too long. If you use that tip for 10 houses or so, tips can be completely blown out. The droplets of paint, the paint's not going to get atomized. You're going to have a lot of droplets coming down, falling on plants and stuff like that, getting a lot of overspray.
