GUTTER PAINTING TIPS. Rain Gutter Painting Instructions. How To Paint Gutters.

We're out today doing some gutters on this house and we're going to show you the process. I do got quite a few uh videos on painting gutters in the process. Some of them are pretty old. We're going to show you some of the new updated techniques we use when painting gutters. And you're going to see in the gutters, we actually use cardboard shields always in our gutters so we don't get any overspray on the roof. We power wash our gutters. We power wash them really good so they're nice and clean. And then prior to painting them, we always prime them with a DTM bonding primer. And you definitely want to prime your gutters with a bonding primer so they don't crinkle or peel. So we prime them with a DT DM DTM bonding primer which dries really fast. And we kind of just shoot a thin fog coat over them and then we go back and spray them with our top coat just typically uh one coat covers them and depending on the color. But you'll see us using multiple extensions so we can reach and spray those gutters so they'll look like a factory finish. We're using a 310 fine finish uh spray tip with a Titan 440i sprayer set at typically high pressure or just a little bit under that which is around 2,800 PSI. So, we want to use those extensions so we don't have to climb up and down ladders and get start and stops on our gutters. We're going to try to shoot them wherever we can the full length of the gutter so you don't get any spits or starts and stops on them. So, just watch our techniques while we're spraying these gutters. So, your gutters will look just like they were brand new and factory done. Here's our airless sprayer sitting here. We're bond doing our DTM bonding primer. Our gutters got our airless sprayer set up almost full pressure. Our bonding primer is in a 5gallon bucket so it doesn't tip over. Has more stable. We don't want it spilling. So, it's in our side our five gallon bucket and showing you what we're doing. Getting ready to top coat them to look at it inside our five gallon bucket. So, some of the simple tools that you want to have handy when you're actually spraying these gutters. I've got myself a hand masker right here with uh 9in paper, 1in tape. I got my gun with two extensions hooked up on it. These are two, one of them is a 24 inch extension and another one's an 18inch extension. Using a 310 tip with my airless sprayer right here. Also use quite a bit my um cardboard shield holder and I got one that actually easily adjust and cuz I'm constantly moving it back and forth at different angles to to spray the shutters and control my overspray. So, we're just cruising right along here spraying our top coat on them. We sprayed our bonding primer on it about an hour ago. It's already dry and now we're top coating them right now with our white top coat Resilience from Sheran Williams. Another look at our cardboard shields in our gutters right here. The down spouts, we've removed the down spouts and they're actually just sprayed with what we use on the siding, the Resilience. They don't need to be primed. We've never had them peel. So, we've never once primed them with a primer. In my career, I've never had them peel once. Working on these highsides doing gutters a little bit more difficult. You're always going to have to have some start and stops here cuz it's so high. Working on an extension ladder using a gun with two extensions on the gun. So, we got our down spouts all sitting out laying out here. I'm going to show you in another video how we go about spraying these down spouts. That's a whole another situation.
