How To Load a 3M Hand Masker. Tape Dispenser Tips.

This is Chris the Idaho Painter. In this video, we're going to th show you how to use a 3M handmasker. Got a 3M handmasker right here with a plastic blade on it. And I've got 9 in craft paper. And I've got 3M 2020 tape. And we use the actual plastic blade for using uh for masking with paper and plastic. We never change blades. It actually comes with two blades. One that's not quite as sharp, but we use the sharp blades for paper and plastic. This blade is actually removable. And if you just grab it and rotate it downwards, it'll pop off. And the blade should tell you, it should indicate on the blade the tape size and where it should be set for the tape size. If the if the markings are covered with paint or obstructed and you've purchased this thing and you can't read it, just set the blade so the blade's going to be slide over so it completely covers and extends beyond your tape. So it'll rip the tape and paper all at once. To put the blade back on, you're just going to set it down inside the groove and you'll snap it right in place. Just like that. That's how to put on and take off the blade. Now, the paper is going to go on. And I actually call it over the top. I want the paper over the top. And it's going to slide on the masker right here. And that thing. And it actually shows you the direction right here that the paper's actually going to flow. And that's in that over over the top motion. And so it's going to go just like that. It's going to slide on there. There's actually a hinge catch. And this is actually what keeps the paper down on the roll and from flopping around. So you want to just lift up that catch. You're going to slide the paper on just like that. And now your paper will actually roll through. You're going to tear off a piece. And you can see that blade is actually adjusted a little bit too high. So I'm just going to move it over one notch. And there we go. Going to take my masking tape, 1 inch masking tape. It's the same idea. Get my masking tape ready. And it's going to be over the top. It's going to go right on my 3M hand masker. It's going to be coming over the top. There's a little catch right here. And there's an arrow on it. And if you can't see that arrow, it actually shows you that it's going underneath the catch. It's going to go underneath that catch. And that's what keeps the tape down and actually so it rolls over the top of the paper. Just like that. And then then I'm gonna stick it to the paper. Gonna tuck it underneath my hinge catch. And just like that, I'm going to rip off a piece. So your paper and plastic or paper and tape. And the blade should all be even just like that. And you're ready to go.
