HOW TO INSTALL A FARM GATE

What happens here

Take one of the gate hanger bolts. Remove the nuts and washers from one end, leaving a single washer and nut near the bend on the threaded side. The top hanger bolt should be installed with its 'hook' facing downwards into the top drilled hole. Tap it in securely with a wrench or hammer until the nut and washer are flush with the post surface. The lower hanger bolt should be similarly prepared, but its 'hook' should face upwards. Tap it into the bottom drilled hole, again until flush. For both, thread a washer and nut onto the exposed end of the bolt on the opposite side of the post, but do not fully tighten yet. This initial loose fit allows for later adjustments.

Goal: Secure the hanger bolts into the fence post, ready for the gate.
