HOW DOES A SHOWER HANDLE LOOK THIS BAD?? (And How I Fixed It Fast)

What happens here

After the handle is removed, you will see a decorative metal plate, known as the escutcheon or faceplate. This is usually held in place by two screws. Use a screwdriver to remove these screws and carefully pull off the escutcheon. Next, you will expose the valve cartridge and a large retaining nut or sleeve that secures it. In this video, a multi-bit screwdriver is used initially, followed by pliers to tackle a stubborn, corroded retaining nut. Turn these components counter-clockwise to remove them, gaining full access to the internal valve mechanism.

Goal: For full access to the valve cartridge or for a complete trim replacement, remove the decorative escutcheon (faceplate) and then the retaining nut or sleeve that holds the valve cartridge in place.
