Connect and Insulate Wires

What happens here

Connect the neutral and hot wires. Twist the exposed copper end of the ridged neutral wire from the power cord together with the white wire from the disposal, and screw on a wire nut. Then, twist the smooth hot wire from the power cord together with the black wire from the disposal and secure with another wire nut. For added security, wrap each wire nut connection with electrical tape, starting on the wires below the nut and wrapping up over the nut itself.
