Fix Your Leaky Kohler Shower: Complete Cartridge Swap Guide

What happens here

With the escutcheon plate removed, you'll see a metal retaining plate secured by two brass screws, one at the top and one at the bottom. Use a screwdriver to carefully loosen and remove these two screws. Be extremely cautious not to drop these screws into the wall cavity, as they can be difficult to retrieve. Once the screws are removed, gently pull the metal retaining plate away from the valve body.

Goal: Fully expose the cartridge for removal.
