Uncap Honey Frames
At 4:04 in
Extracting the spring honey harvest....Fun and Educational! How small farms harvest honey!
What happens here
Take a honey frame that is full of capped honey from the beehive box. Hold the frame vertically over the clear plastic tote to catch any falling wax and honey. With the heated uncapping knife, which has been kept warm in the hot water bath, carefully slice downwards along the surface of the honeycomb to remove the wax cappings. Allow the cappings and honey to fall into the tote. For any areas where the knife cannot reach or for uneven comb, use an uncapping fork/comb to gently scrape or prick open the remaining capped cells. Ensure all the cells on both sides of the frame are uncapped before moving to the next frame.
Goal: Remove wax cappings from honeycomb cells.
