EASY Skim Coat Application

What happens here

Dip a 3/4-inch nap paint roller into the mixed compound and roll it onto the wall in sections, ensuring a generous and even application. Work from top to bottom. Immediately after rolling a section (approximately 3x3 feet), use a long skimming blade or trowel (e.g., 24-inch) to smooth out the compound, removing excess material and filling in low spots. Hold the blade at a slight angle to the wall and apply even pressure. Overlap each stroke slightly. The first coat should be thick enough to substantially cover the existing texture. If the texture is still significantly visible, a heavier application may be needed in subsequent coats.

Goal: Roll a generous layer of the mixed skim coat compound onto the wall and immediately smooth it with a skimming blade, working section by section to cover existing texture.
