DIY Venetian Plaster Walls!

this kid's got a copay there hate live TV today I have a really cool project behind me I've got a wall to walls right here I'm going to be doing a Venetian plaster from bolero coatings on these walls free and easy to do but we're gonna be giving you some tips and tricks how to do Venetian plaster the simple and all right so here we are we've got the wall we're all ready to start doing our Venetian plaster from Baja today a few tools are really using I've got a bow arrow a Venetian plaster shroud we're going to be doing a technique that's do-it-yourselfers and people that don't have a lot of experience with Venetian plaster or maybe doing a technique when we're rolling it on using microfiber rollers I've got a 6 inch microfiber mini right here and then we've got a 9 inch microfiber roll right here we're gonna be rolling it on small sections and then not trying it these two rollers we've already pre wetted them make sure they're all clean and lint-free you want to pretty wet it before you start using them I'm gonna start up in this corner up here we've got a ladder a six-foot ladder so you'll just load up the buffer hand it to me and once I get down here you roll walls yourself in that car behind me is really bad one so look at that go over to me and one of the things I need to do is I got to just jam it up in these these edges right here with my roller so I can put it up up in there this roller up having a second person yeah I don't have to keep getting up and down the ladder I'm just gonna ran them roll it and then I'll ran down the trolley just putting just a light pressure on it and this is just goofy putting on a nice you know heavy first coat we're going to get a full coverage on this plaster so you're gonna see a little bit see through this first coat just a little bit the next coat will cover it even more then our final coat will you don't have one percent covers if I want to use this technique and I was by myself I would just take a have a pocket we're just cruising right along here just applying it just a nice thin even coat I just want to have it I don't want to have it you know heavy and then light and kind of random rolling this then eat this out get it just where I want it nice and thin and I'm beginning the random styling process and once again you're get it's okay to have you on your first count your some see-through but just make sure that you travel at all and you don't leave any stifling behind your now traditional Venetian plaster you would just be traveling about I'd be pulling it out of a container just a little bit and adding it to my trowel and then on randomly doing like that traditional Galician posture but I'm trying to get a little bit heavier bill to get a kind of a concrete look on it eventually when it's all three coats are on there I'm gonna sand it and then I'm going to compress and burnish it to bring out some highlights in color so one of the things you doing this when you're going it definitely want to make sure your don't want this to dry your edges to dry with many types of stippling on it so it's kind of important so you don't want to work in two waters of areas you want to just a short section like this work that out before it dries so and that's all going to be determined by room temperature or humidity there's a lot of factors that go into that but it so I'm feathering it all in two and the middle I get too heavy over here I can pull some hop and work it over on the outside on the outside edges got my trowel you know it really low angle with Travis kind of a really low and go not a high angle because that want to scrape I'm kind of just running that sprout along the face of it you can feel it's like just really smooth if you've got a first coat done so we're gonna let that dry and paint my trials off you've got some brush baggies and just gonna stick these things and the brush bag again and cover it up so they don't dry out and then we're gonna continue on doing my second coat so the second coat I can do the same technique I can just roll it on with microfiber roller or I can draw it on and to show you you traveling on so you can see what the travel bond look without missing a role or looks like the subtle dry really fast and you can start calling it out as soon as it's dry so not working by long on my second color I'm going to show you you can do the same technique you can just random roll it with a microfiber roller or you can try them using a trowel method this time is to show you what's going on once on this randomly trying it on working up tonight see you later the season four inch knife to load up my bolero a flex combination of my high this is your opportunity they'll spots that you have light spots to just leave a little bit more over the top of those light spots and don't put too much pressure so you can cover Bob so you can see I had some you know some light spots you'll hear where I was working on the lights and I can just leave a little extra over to cover those white spots working you know hydrates see getting I'm not using the microfiber roller to get up here this time so I'm just kidding this closest to that tape as I can second coach gonna dry it a little bit faster than the first coat because aren't they got some you know a quarter of a Nation posture on there let's do absorb the moisture you know out of the product you're a lot faster and so this really drive a little bit quicker might be other put my third coat on and possibly even about an hour there's every now that I'm seeing spots that just need to be filled and I'm just leaving just taking a little bit of pressure off a tool to leave a little bit of behind and fill those the third Tony it's just really you know different than the last coat you're just flattening it out more filling in Laura bit and it's gonna end up having more of that look the multi colors luck with a lot of depth as walls that be really flat and glassy smooth lines down if that so this leaving down low alright so I've got my three coats all done now I got them all a nice looking concrete effect now if you wanted to just end right here you absolutely could be done with it right if you wanted a flat look typically I would use like a six inch orbital and just power sanding really fast to buff it out but I forgot my senator and I'm just gonna do it by hand it's a small wall and then I'll take my burnishing tool to compress it and burnish it this right here this is a bow arrow Bercy tool missus really stiff and you're just going to take it just press put some pressure behind it and press and this actually just brings out a little bit more color out of the wall itself I'm just going to press and press and compress right there and then the wall will be all done so I'm going to move on to this process of sanding it looks very simple just looks like this so this is going to Sam and you can feel and this is a 2000 grit sandpaper and after I'm done polishing it with my sandpaper then I'm gonna just take and compress it once again there's just a here a random compression what I'm sange I can feel it you know the parts that aren't sanded it's just starts to feel like absolute glass this the sandpaper will just glide right over it you just keep buffing it if you want it smoother so I got my uh my polishing done with my sandpaper now my final step I'm just compressing it and doing a final polish with my Venetian crowd just a quick little trick you know to be able to tell if you've got a same polish just get us down and just look down this wall for any flat spots that just look like a mirror so the fun part is always you put it all together and seeing how amazing it looks with everything back in place you know this would be for me you know full-day project for this wall it has a little short wall right there that I did so you're talking typically you know right here I use the about a gallon there's enough to do some touch-ups you know with about a gallon of the product and about full daily work and fit god yeah well your pricing is really it's a matter of where you are if I was in doing this in New York happy twice as much probably three times as much as I am do it here and Boise Idaho so you know you you have to just keep that these are decorative coatings that are high in coatings that you really should be charged and you know the problem out of the money to do something like this for so there you have that the project is all complete now it absolutely looks amazing the three files that I use they use this time right here this Venetian plaster burnishing trout and bone marrow I also used this is the trial I used to trowel on the Venetian plaster and then the four ends traveled I use to hold my plaster as I was installing that simple tools to do this project you don't need to have anything you know elaborate i standard it on my hand you know was it a big project it would probably went a little bit faster with your little power center or orbital 6-inch sander but it's amazing some of the tips and tricks with these child's if you've never use these towels it's just you know just take your time practice you're not using great angles on these crowds you want to just use like a 20-degree eight or so when I'm actually traveling song and you'll feeling you'll get the feel that Charles almost fly and you're just using this random if you watch me in the video just kind of this random motion that you're doing you don't want to do anything that's consistent it's just rambling throughout or you just
